This month the European Commission for the first time ever blocked an ex-Commissioner from taking up a job in the private sector. The former Internal Market Commission Charles McCreevy had to resign from his directorship at London-based banking start-up NBNK after Catherine Day, the Secretary General of the Commission informed him that the Commission was unable to approve the post. A new award, aimed at businesses making false green claims, was launched today, ahead of the World Business Summit on Climate Change taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, later this month.

Members of the public are invited to vote for the company making the most outrageous claims to be green when nominations for the Climate Greenwash Awards are revealed on Monday 11 May. The winner will be announced at a special ceremony in Copenhagen on Saturday 23 May - on the eve of the World Business Summit on Climate Change.
