A couple of weeks ago, the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency and Ethics Regulation (ALTER-EU) launched a new campaign to block the revolving door. Alongside numerous cases of officials, often at the very highest levels in the EU institutions, who have gone through the revolving door to join Brussels' lucrative lobby industry, there was a comprehensive analysis about why the current rules (contained in the Staff Regulations) don't work.
Eight new cases "illustrating the extent of Brussels' revolving door problem" have been highlighted in a new report.
The eight cases cited by the group Corporate Europe Observatory feature individuals who, it says, have moved through the "revolving door" from the European institutions, including the commission, into private sector lobbying jobs.

A report says that "too few" checks are being made on ex-commission officials who move into jobs in the lobby industry.
It says this potentially can result in "abuses of power".
The report was published on Thursday by the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency and Ethics Regulation (ALTER-EU).

Dabei geht es um das sogenannte Drehtür-Phänomen: Ranghohe EU-Bedienstete wechseln von ihren Jobs in den EU-Institutionen in die Privatwirtschaft und lobbyieren nachher die ehemaligen Kollegen.
