ALTER-EU launches its Full lobby transparency now! campaign

Find out about this exciting new campaign to demand lobby transparency in Brussels and across the EU member states.

ALTER-EU has launched its new Full lobby transparency now! campaign to demand:

  • EU legislation for a high-quality, legally-binding lobby register by the end of 2016

  • Greater interest in, and proposals for, new high-quality lobby registers in EU member states

At a high-profile debate in the European Parliament to launch the campaign, Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans renewed the Commission's commitment to a mandatory lobby register but postponed submitting a proposal to the Autumn. Timmermans dismissed the legislative approach advocated by ALTER-EU and the Ombudsman, instead choosing to implement a sanctions-based system for the unregistered and those who submit false information. Olivier Hoedeman from Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO), told the Vice-President that the success of a “de facto” mandatory system will require more and wider sanctions.

Right now, you can take action to support ALTER-EU's new campaign by signing our open letter to the Commission.
